PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a focal plane shutter having a simplified structure with consolidated/standardized parts.SOLUTION: A focal plane shutter includes; a blade member 20 that opens/closes an opening of a base plate 10; a master drive member 31 energized in a direction in which a shutter motion by the blade member takes place; a setting member 40 capable of setting the main drive member to a pre-shutter-motion set position; a slave drive member 32 that is coupled with the blade member, follows the master drive member when being set to the set position and, during the shutter motion, is pushed by the main drive member to move together therewith; and a locking mechanism 50 that releasably locks the slave drive member. The locking mechanism includes a locking member 51 that responds to the movement of the setting member by locking the slave drive member, unlocking the slave drive member, limiting reverse movement of the slave drive member when the slave drive member moves to the setting position, and releasing the movement limit immediately before the shutter motion, thereby keeping the blade member in a closed state after completion of the shutter motion. This allows for simplifying the structure, consolidating/standardizing parts, and preventing bouncing of the blade member and the like. |
