PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption of an imaging element when a signal is read in an imaging apparatus using the imaging element which can detect a focus in a phase difference system.SOLUTION: An imaging element including a plurality of photoelectric conversion sections for each of a plurality of microlenses includes: a reading circuit (3) which can be driven by a first driving method for reading a signal from a part of a plurality of photoelectric conversion sections and a second driving method for reading signals from the photoelectric conversion sections much more than the first driving method; and supplying means for supplying a current amount smaller than that when the signal is read by the second driving method to the reading circuit when the signals are read by the first driving method. |
