The present invention relates to a method of protecting a livestock intestinal barrier using Bacillus subtilis and, more particularly, to a composition for protecting the livestock intestinal barrier from damages of a livestock intestinal barrier due to deoxynivalenol, the composition containing heat-treated Bacillus subtilis as an active ingredient, and a method of protecting the livestock intestinal barrier from damages of the livestock intestinal barrier due to deoxynivalenol, the method including the step of performing oral administration of the composition on livestock. A composition for protecting the livestock intestinal barrier from damages of a livestock intestinal barrier due to deoxynivalenol contains heat-treated Bacillus subtilis as an active ingredient. The heat-treatment process is performed on a Bacillus subtilis culture medium at 100 °C to 130 °C for 15 minutes to 90 minutes. The Bacillus subtilis reduces the permeability of epithelial cells for a pig intestinal barrier. The Bacillus subtilis increases expression of tight junction proteins in the epithelial cells for the pig intestinal barrier. The livestock is a pig. A composition including heat-treated Bacillus subtilis as an active ingredient may prevent deterioration of pig rearing, and may furthermore prevent economic losses of pig farms by protecting intestinal barriers of pigs from fungal infections. |
