The present invention relates to a method to control a hybrid electric vehicle using the driving tendency of a driver. The method to control a hybrid electric vehicle using the driving tendency of a driver according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a step of determining a driving tendency level on the basis of data for determining the driving tendency of a driver; a step of setting a shifting pattern according to the driving tendency level; and a step of performing a shifting control according to the shifting pattern. Therefore, the present invention optimizes the state of charge (SOC) of a battery and improves fuel efficiency by using the driving tendency of a driver.
