PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide network location services causing one or a plurality of packet forwarding devices in a network to collect and retain location data relating to devices/users currently connected to the network.SOLUTION: Data are locally retained in each packet forwarding device, and are provided on demand to network/business applications such as emergency 911 services, location-base security or personalization systems. The location data is provided in real time or substantially in real time using standard transport protocol such as HTTP/S and SOAP Web service, using in-band channel communications, and/or on Internet. |
