A magnetic data reading device and magnetic data reading method; the magnetic data reading device comprises: a magnetic head device (211) and a control unit (20); the magnetic head device (211) comprises a magnetic core (10) and a field coil (11) wound on the magnetic core (10); the control unit (20) controls the field coil (11) to be energized for a first preset time (T1), and when the first preset time (T1) expires, reads the first magnetic data of a ticket to be read, and also controls the field coil (11) to be de-energized for a second preset time (T2), and when the second preset time (T2) expires, reads the second magnetic data of a ticket to be read. The magnetic data reading device and magnetic data reading method employ only one magnetic head, thus reducing the cost of a magnetic data reading device and solving the problem in the prior art of a high manufacturing cost of a magnetic induction device.
