A device for preventing unauthorised use of a motor vehicle comprises a bracket member 10 mounted on a threaded rod 11 screwed into a tapped boss 12 secured in the upper end of a tubular member 13, in the lower end of which is mounted a boss 15 which slidably receives a hook member 14 of square section to prevent relative rotation between the parts, an enlargement 16 preventing separation of the parts. The hook 14 may have an alternative configuration, as shown in Fig. 4, and in use, the hook is placed about a control lever or pedal or projection on the vehicle, the rod 11 rotated relatively to the tube 13 to adjust the length of the device, and the bracket member 10 is placed about a spoke 23 of the steering wheel and a padlock 22, or a rod secured by a padlock, is passed through holes 19. In a modification, the device may comprise two hooked parts secured together by a padlock, and in another embodiment, the rod may be hinged for storage purposes. The rod may be replaced by a chain and the various parts may be coated with P.V.C. or the steering wheel spoke may be protected by the use of a rubber protector 23.
