PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polymer including a polylactic acid that contains no metal and exhibits high optical purity, and to provide a method for producing the polymer.SOLUTION: The polymer including a polylactic acid has a metal element content of less than 5 ppm and has an optical purity of 95% or more as determined by a high-speed liquid chromatographic analysis. The method for producing the polymer including a polylactic acid includes a polymerization step of contacting a raw material containing a ring-opening polymerizable monomer and a compressible fluid in the presence of an organic catalyst to subject the ring-opening polymerizable monomer to ring-opening polymerization. In the polymerization step, the organic catalyst is added to the ring-opening polymerizable monomer separately in several times.
