PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power transmission system and an operation method for the power transmission system capable of efficiently transmitting power by using a plurality of power transmission lines, while using natural energy.SOLUTION: A power transmission system comprises: a power generation device for generating power using natural energy; a plurality of power transmission lines for transmitting the power; a detection unit that is provided on each of the power transmission lines and detects a physical quantity correlating to conductor temperature of the power transmission line; and a control unit for controlling, when an accident has occurred in a part of the power transmission lines, power generation of the power generation device on the basis of a physical quantity detected by the detection unit so that conductor temperature of a sound line having no accident is equal to or lower than a predetermined temperature based on a conductor maximum allowable temperature. The control unit includes: a determination unit for determining whether or not the conductor temperature based on the physical quantity exceeds the predetermined temperature; and a power generation control unit for lowering an output of the power generation of the power generation device when it is determined by the determination unit that the conductor temperature exceeds the predetermined temperature.
