An improvement for existing breathing therapy machines which allows the machine to determine a patient's dominant respiratory phenotype using an auto-titration mode and flow sensor.

a. a blower, for delivering pressurized air to a user of said device; b. a processor, for controlling said blower; c. non-volatile memory, accessible by said processor, said non-volatile memory containing an area for storage of performance data; d. a phenotyping module, stored in said non-volatile memory, for determining the dominant phenotype of said user of said device.
