A spotsize converter (200), comprising a substrate layer (201), a first covering layer (202) arranged above the substrate layer (201), an isolating layer (203) arranged between the substrate layer (201) and the first covering layer (202) and waveguides (204) arranged in the first covering layer (202), the waveguides (204) being symmetrical along the central axis, wherein the waveguides (204) comprise a constant-width first waveguide (301), a constant-width second waveguide (302) and a third waveguide (303), a first end of the third waveguide (303) is connected to a first end of the first waveguide (301) and a first end of the second waveguide (302), the shape formed by the first waveguide (301), the second waveguide (302) and the third waveguide (303) is a Y shape, and, along a first direction of the central axis, the width of the third waveguide (303) gradually increases, and the distance in a second direction between the first waveguide (301) and the second waveguide (302) gradually decreases. The spotsize converter (200) can be used for converting a spot size between an optical fibre and an optical waveguide, and with the spotsize converter (200) the coupling loss between the optical fibre and the optical waveguide can be reduced. |
