METHOD FOR EFFECTIVELY EXTRACTING ASTAXANTHIN FROM MICROALGAE BY USING CELL REDIFFERENTIATION

The present invention relates to a method for more effectively extracting astaxanthin, which is accumulated in a high concentration, from microalgal cells by obtaining microalgal cells of which the cell walls are weakened by redifferentiating the microalgal cells. The method for effectively extracting astaxanthin from microalgae comprises the steps of: (a) culturing microalgae; (b) forming mature cysts in which astaxanthin is accumulated, by applying stress to the cultured microalgae; (c) obtaining a culture solution containing mature cysts, divided cysts, released cysts and cyst walls by culturing the mature cysts in which astaxanthin is accumulated, in a culture solution containing nutrients so as to redifferentiate the same; (d) recovering a cyst group containing mature cysts, divided cysts, released cysts and cyst walls from the culture solution obtained in step (c); and (e) extracting astaxanthin by pretreating the recovered cyst group by a mechanical method or chemical pretreatment.
