A cartridge (40) comprises: a valve (60) which can move within a supply passage (43a) that is connected with a receiver (42), and a sensor unit (70) which detects the position of the valve (60). A printer (1) includes a front sensor (161) and a rear sensor (162), or similar, which output ON signals in response to the position of a hollow needle (153). The front sensor (161) outputs an ON signal when the hollow needle (153) is in a non-connection position in which there is no connection with the receiver (42), and the rear sensor (162) outputs an ON signal when the hollow needle (153) is in a connection position in which connection with the receiver (42) is possible. A controller (100) in the printer (1) determines whether or not there are any abnormalities on the basis of the output signal from the sensor unit (70) and the output signals from the front sensor (161) and the rear sensor (162). |
