[Also in Division B3] In a method of connecting an electrical conductor to a terminal post generally similar to that disclosed in the parent Specification a channelshaped resilient connector is pushed along a guide to engage and draw the conductor on to the post whereby the conductor is trapped between the connector and the post and the insulation is formed with a longitudinal slit to expose the core which is pressed into direct engagement with the post. The nose portion of a pneumatically operated hand assambling tool comprises a T-shaped transfer slide 42 along which reciprocates a plunger 38, having a recess to locate a lip C, Fig. 8, and mive it along a T-shaped guide 24 to engage an insulated conductor 3 manually inserted into a recess 34 of a block 20 the leading end of which engages a post 1. Continued forward movement of the connector compresses the conductor into a rearwardly inclined groove 64 having a central V-shaped rib 66 which longitudinally slits the conductor insulation up to its end as it is advanced on to the post, the insulation finally opening out against the inner wall of the connector whilst the conductor core is compressed against the post, Fig. 6. The clips may be intermittently advanced in strip form into the tool which has means for shearing from the strip and positioning it in the path of the plunger 38.
