The present invention relates to a method of controlling a power generator for a lighting unit having a thermoelectric device, and more particularly, to a technique of generating electric energy from a thermoelectric device using heat radiated from light-emitting diodes. The technique of generating electric energy from a thermoelectric device using heat radiated from light-emitting diodes comprises: a temperature detection step (S1) that a temperature sensor (8) detects an increased temperature of a heat sink (5); a heat sink heating step (S2) that a substrate (4) continuously heats up the heat sink (5) if a preset temperature is not detected in the temperature detection step (S1); a thermoelectric device electricity generation step (S3) that the thermoelectric device (6) is heated by the heat sink (5) and generates electricity after the heat sink heating step (S2); a thermoelectric device electricity application step (S4) that electricity is applied to the thermoelectric device (6) if the temperature sensor (8) detecting a temperature of the heat sink (5) is heated up to temperature causing damage to the substrate (4) during the thermoelectric device electricity generation step (S3); a heat sink cooling step (S5) that the heat sink (5) that is in contact with a cooling surface (6′) of the thermoelectric device (6) is being cooled down if the cooling surface (6′) starts to be cooled down due to the thermoelectric device electricity application step (S4); and a substrate cooling step (S6) that the substrate (4) being in contact with the cooling surface (6′) starts to be cooled down if the heat sink (5) is cooled down due to the heat sink cooling step (S5). |
