Means for cutting a groove in a synthetic resin or metal plate comprises a rotary cutting tool 13 having a width equal to the groove to be cut and mounted on a shaft carried by a slide 111 adjustable transversely of a body member 9 displaceable manually over the surface to be treated. The slide 111 has a depth limiting screw 23 engaged by a stop 25 adjustable against a scale on an upper part 112 carrying a handle 12 and a cutter shaft 20 rotated at 12,000 r.p.m. by a flexible shaft. The upper part is urged upwardly about a pivot 17 by a spring to hold the cutter clear of the work whenever the handle 12 is released. The work carries a line which can be followed by a pointer 14 to guide the tool. |
