<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain even an effect with energy saving, while corresponding to communication from an external apparatus via a public telephone line network. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a controller unit for performing a main operation; and a sub-system unit for controlling power supply to the controller unit. In an energy saving mode, the operation of the controller unit is suppressed by the control of the sub-system unit. Besides, the image forming apparatus performs communication with a management device via a public telephone line network in the sub-system unit. In the energy saving mode where the operation of the controller unit is suppressed, the sub-system unit responds to communication from the management device via the public telephone line network, releases the suppression of the operation of the controller unit in accordance with the communication, and returns an operation mode from the energy saving mode to a normal mode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
