A machine for polishing, and removing dust from, mosaic elements before baking comprises a polishing box 2 disposed on a horizontal frame 3 to which a mechanical device 7 imparts a small-amplitude circular or elliptical translatory movement. The box contains a series of inclined plates 15 . . . 19 which have abrasive surfaces the upper plate being arranged to receive the elements from a conveyer 12 and having a device 11 for discharging blocks stuck one upon another to an opening 13. As the frame 3 carrying the base is given the circular translatory movement by a device 7 driven by an electric motor 29, the elements pass in succession over the plates 16 . . . 19, bevels on the ends of the plates and jets 30 acting to turn the elements through 180 degrees in passing from one plate to another so that both surfaces of the elements are polished, the elements finally passing from a shoot 20 to a receptacle 27 movable on a conveyer 28 to a baking apparatus. Dust is removed from the elements by a compressed-air blower 23 and suction nozzles 21, 22.</p> |
