<p>The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:1022010/C2/1> wherein R1 is a hydrocarbon radical of up to 8C and R2 is H or halogen, their salts with organic or inorganic bases and the preparation thereof (a) by heating in an aqueous or aqueous-organic medium a compound of the general formula <FORM:1022010/C2/2> with an inorganic base, forming the acid and optionally preparing the base from the acid; (b) by hydrolysing or hydrogenolysing an alkyl or benzyl ester of compounds I; and (c) reacting an alkali metal salt of compound II with an aqueous hypohalogenite solution and reducing the compound formed of the general formula <FORM:1022010/C2/3> until the halogen atom in the alpha-position has been removed or hydrogenating the compound IV in the presence of an acid binding substance. n-Butyl malonic acid ethyl ester-N,N-diphenyl-hydrazide is prepared by reacting n-butyl malonic acid monoethyl ester and hydrazobenzene in the presence of dicyclohexylcarbodiimide. Pharmaceutical compositions comprise compounds I and a pharmaceutical carrier. The compositions, which show antipyretic and antiphlogistic acticity, may be formulated as tablets, capsules, suppositories or solutions for injection.</p> |
