A method for discharging a harvested crop (52, B) from a crop accumulator (16) and a combination of a harvester (14) and a crop accumulator (16) is disclosed. The method comprising: (110) establishing at least one virtual trip line (T); (114) commencing a harvest operation; transferring the harvested crop (52, B) to the crop accumulator (16); communicating that at least one of: (122) the virtual trip line (T) is being approached, the virtual trip line (T) is being crossed, and the virtual trip line (T) has been crossed; (128) actuating a discharge system (64) of the crop accumulator (16), in response to the communication, to discharge one of: a portion of the harvested crop (52, B) and all of the harvested crop (52, B) from the crop accumulator (16); and depositing the harvested crop (52, B) according to at least one of the following: on the virtual trip line (T), adjacent to the virtual trip line (T), in a zone defined by a predetermined distance from the virtual trip line (T), and outside of a zone defined by a predetermined distance from the virtual trip line (T). |
