[Also in Division G6] A heat exchanger tube has external fins 2 arranged in sectors of parallel fins inclined from one sector to the next in opposite directions and curved from the roots to the tips of the fins, e.g. into a part cylindrical form. The element shown has fins extending over an even number of sectors 3a, 3b, 3c &c. over which flows a cooling fluid in the general direction of arrow 4. The bottoms of the grooves separating successive fins may be flat as shown, or may be curved, concave or convex, and partitions may be located in passages 5 separating adjacent sectors in order to centre the element inside a channel through which cooling fluid is circulated.</p> |
