1,113,429. Slip rings for dynamo-electric machines. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. 4 Oct., 1965 [14 Oct., 1964], No. 41858/64. Heading H2A. [Also in Division B5] In a method of manufacturing a slip ring assembly, for attachment to the rotor shaft of a dynamo-electric machine, synthetic resin is caused to flow between a former 16a, 17a and a cylindrical conductor 11 and allowed to set, then the slip ring assembly is removed from the mould and a circumferential groove is machined in the conductor so as to expose the resin and leave the slip ring conductors embedded within the resin. The former 16a, 17a may be separate or integral with the mould halves 16, 17 and powder or injection moulding techniques may be used to cause the resin to flow into the mould. The slip ring assembly has a fan formed integral with the slip ring mounting (Fig. 4, not shown), and a slot (22) for receiving a connector (23, Fig. 3, not shown), connecting the outer slip ring to the field of the machine, is provided through the moulding. The other slip ring has a terminal (15) formed as a lug on the cylindrical conductor 11 (Fig. 2, not shown).
|
