The invention comprises salts of biologically active polypeptides, i.e. oxytocin, vasopressins, eledoisin, bradykinin and their structural analogues, with a non-toxic aliphatic hydroxymonocarboxylic acid of 2 to 20 hydroxy radicals, e.g. gluconic, galactonic and lactobionic acids. Pharmaceutical compositions suitable for parenteral, buccal or sublingual administration comprise the salts of the invention and a physiologically acceptable carrier therefor.
