The present invention relates to a liquid crystal compound of indane derivatives, which is appropriate as a liquid crystal material for a liquid crystal display, and to a liquid crystal composition using the same. The purpose of the present invention is to provide a liquid crystal composition having high birefringence, a rapid response time, and low rotational viscosity, and holding a high clearing point and dielectric anisotropy, and a low threshold voltage, as a medium for MLC, TN, STN, OCB, HT-VA, FFS or IPS displays. The present invention is derived after confirming that a liquid crystal (LC) composition having desirable characteristics and a very rapid response time, described as a liquid crystal composition comprising the liquid crystal compound of chemical formula 1, is generated when using the LC composition comprising the liquid crystal compound of chemical formula 1. |
