The present invention relates to a stand for supporting an object. The stand comprises: a mounting base 2 for connection to a surface; a holder 7 with a front face for supporting the object, a clip 11 for securing the object against the front face, a ledge 8 on which the object rests and side supports 9 which are adjustably extendable from each side of the holder. The mounting base and the holder are connected together by an adjustable arm 12 which includes two pivotally connected sections 3a, 3b so that the position of the holder can be altered. The mounting base and the holder are each substantially flat and capable of being arranged or folded so as to be positioned adjacent one another in a stowed orientation (fig. 7B). The object may be a book, newspaper, electronic tablet or similar device and the ledge may be displaceable vertically to accommodate different sizes of objects. Similarly the clip may be adjustable along a channel and the stand may comprise a directionally adjustable light. |
