A rowing machine has a mechanism for transferring pitching motion to a user. The machine comprises a main body portion 945 extending along a longitudinal axis from a first end of the rowing machine to a second end of the rowing machine, a seat 908 and a handle portion (752, 754, fig.7a). The mechanism which transfers a pitching motion to a user may also transfer a rolling motion. Alternatively, a further rolling mechanism may be provided in addition to a pitching motion mechanism. The pitching mechanism preferably comprises a spring or damper arrangement (991, fig.14a) and the rolling mechanism preferably comprises a rotatable bearing assembly (961, fig.11b). Two machines may be linked together in series so that a crew may learn to coordinate their movements (see fig. 7b). |
