The present invention relates to a liquid crystal display device. The liquid crystal display device includes: a first substrate on which a first alignment layer is formed; a second substrate on which a second alignment layer is formed; and a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first alignment layer and the second alignment layer, and including a liquid crystal molecule having a helical structure of which a screw axis is aligned with the first substrate and the second substrate. At least one from the first alignment layer and the second alignment layer has gradual distribution at a pretilt angle of 0° to 90°. The liquid crystal display device can implement a uniformly laying helix (ULH) mode in which the liquid crystal layer is stabilized, thereby having a wide viewing angle and fast response speed.
