摘要 The present invention relates to an electrode assembly in a novel structure. The electrode assembly of the present invention ensures reduction in an unnecessary portion of a whole electrode assembly and improves battery capacity in the lithium secondary battery comprising the electrode assembly. The present invention further relates to a lithium secondary battery comprising the electrode assembly. The electrode assembly according to the present invention is capable of preventing internal short circuit to reduce a calorific value in a negative electrode plate, by decreasing an area of an electrode uncoated part, especially negative electrode uncoated part and by increasing the area of a negative electrode active material layer as much as the decreased area of the negative electrode uncoated part. The battery capacity of the lithium secondary battery comprising the negative electrode active material layer increases as the area of the negative electrode active material increases. Furthermore, the area of a separation membrane protruding from an end of the electrode (a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate) decreases as the area of the electrode uncoated part (especially, the negative electrode uncoated part) decreases, thereby reducing the unnecessary portions in the whole electrode assembly.
