An embodiment of the present invention relates to an apparatus for removing a snow and rain image from a camera image and a method for removing the snow and rain image using the same. The present invention is to provide an apparatus and a method capable of effectively removing snow and rain by applying a Kalman filter to a CCTV image and effectively removing motion blur that occurs when the Kalman filter is applied by using a temporal filter. The apparatus for removing a snow and rain image according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: an image input unit for receiving image data inputted from a camera; a pixel detection unit for detecting each pixel of the image data; a pixel restoration unit for tracking an intensity value of each pixel for a time period set before the pixel is inputted, calculating an estimated value, calculating a measured value of the intensity value at the time when the pixel is inputted, determining whether the pixel is screened by snow or rain using the difference between the estimated and measured values, and restoring the pixel using the estimated value according to the determined results; and a motion pixel detection unit for determining whether the corresponding pixel contains a moving object in the restored pixel by using a motion detection algorithm; and a motion pixel correction unit for correcting the pixel containing the moving object based on the pixel for a time period set before the pixel is inputted. |
