1. A method of treatment of cardiovascular diseases in a patient in need thereof, comprising administering to said patient a therapeutically effective amount of at least one growth factor,
wherein said at least one growth factor is released from particles containing a network or a membrane and said at least one growth factor, wherein said network or membrane comprises at least one covalently cross-linked polysaccharide and a protein, wherein said protein is co-cross-linked with the at least one covalently cross-linked polysaccharide, wherein said at least one growth factor is adsorbed by electrostatic interactions to the at least one covalently cross-linked polysaccharide, wherein the polysaccharide is selected from the group consisting of acacia gum, alginic acid and derivatives thereof, alginic salts, alginic esters, chondroitin-4-sulfate, chondroitin-6-sulfate, and mixtures thereof, wherein the protein is selected from the group consisting of albumins, said therapeutically effective amount being administered by injection into a tissue of the patient, and wherein the particles provide sustained release of the growth factor over a period of at least 15 days.
