The present invention relates to a mobile terminal and a control method thereof. The mobile terminal comprises: a battery; a display portion; a touch sensor which senses a touch applied on a screen of a display; and a control portion which controls the battery to periodically supply power to the touch sensor in order to sense a touch for at least one between turning on the screen and unlocking the screen even when the screen is turned off. The control portion controls the battery to change a power supply period of the touch sensor when a current state of the mobile terminal corresponds to a preset condition when the screen is turned off. By lengthening the power supply period of the touch sensor which senses the touch for at least one between turning on the screen and unlocking the screen when the screen is turned off, an effect of increasing available time of the battery of the mobile terminal can be provided. |
