PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reader which prevents lowering of the detection accuracy of manuscript floating.SOLUTION: Capacitance between a platen is detected by a capacitance detection sensor 308 provided in a reading section for reading the manuscript on the platen optically. Since the capacitance thus detected is proportional to the floating amount of the manuscript, it is corrected by controlling the manuscript reading operation so as to cancel a change, depending on a change of capacitance detected in an area on the platen where the manuscript is arranged. More specifically, it is corrected by calculating the average value of capacitance at the manuscript reading position, and changing the gain of the readings or the reading amount of light depending thereon. |
