PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damping device of a rotary cutting tool capable of restraining chatter vibration of a rotary cutting tool, without causing an increase in a rotational load of the rotary cutting tool, and without causing early abrasion of a viscoelastic body.SOLUTION: A damping device 10 is provided for damping vibration of an end mill 1 installed via a tool holder 4 on a spindle 3 of a processing head 2, and comprises an arm member 11 capable of supplementarily supporting the outer peripheral side of the end mill 1, a sliding member 18 mutually slidingly contacting with an outer peripheral surface of its end mill 1 when rotating the end mill 1 and a viscoelastic body 17 interposed between the arm member 11 and the sliding member 18, and damps cutting-time vibration of the end mill 1 by transmitting to the viscoelastic body 17 via the sliding member 18. |
