PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device, an optical module, and a method for manufacturing an optical device, by which positional accuracy is increased upon mounting an optical component on a substrate of an optical device, and an optical component can be reduced in size.SOLUTION: The optical device includes: a substrate 30; an optical waveguide 33 formed on the substrate 30; a grating coupler 34 where light is incident or outgoing, which is formed in the optical waveguide 33; a hydrophobic layer 36 that constitutes an outermost surface of the substrate and covers the substrate to form an opening 37 at a position corresponding to the grating coupler; and a lens array 45 that is optically connected to the grating coupler by a transparent optical adhesive 50. The lens array 45 has a projection protruding toward the substrate side, in which a bottom of the projection 47 is adhered to the opening 37. |
