PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for making tritium in tritium-contaminated water harmless.SOLUTION: Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) or potassium hydroxide (KOH), as a reactant, is stored in a casing 1A made of austenitic stainless steel. By heating the casing 1A with a planar heater 4 to 400-600°C, the reactant is converted into molten salt. Fine particles are scattered from the molten salt into a reaction space S of an upper space inside the casing 1A. By bringing the fine particles into contact with a casing inner wall, a special oxide film is formed. Tritium water (HTO, TO) is injected into inside the reaction space S. By making neutrons in the tritium water absorbed to the special oxide film and a furnace wall, and by performing nuclear transform to transform most of the neutrons into H, the neutrons are made harmless. |
