PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an object information acquisition apparatus which reduces the effect of abnormal emission.SOLUTION: The object information acquisition apparatus comprises: a laser resonator including two reflectors and a Q switch arranged therebetween. The object information acquisition apparatus also comprises: an excitation part for optically exciting a laser medium; a detection part for detecting a spatial distribution of intensities of the laser beam output from one of the reflectors; and a projection part for projecting the laser beam onto an object. The subject information acquisition apparatus further comprises: a reception part for receiving acoustic waves transmitted from the object based on the projection of the laser beam; and an acquisition part for acquiring information related to the object on the basis of the reception result of the reception part and the detection result of the detection part. The detection result of the detection part indicates a detection of abnormal emission.
