PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shovel capable of more reliably detecting a terrain of a ground surface to be excavated.SOLUTION: A shovel according to an embodiment of the present invention includes an excavation attachment, a two-dimensional scanning distance measuring device 40, and a controller 30 for detecting a terrain on the basis of output from the two-dimensional scanning distance measuring device 40. The two-dimensional scanning distance measuring device 40 is mounted in such a manner that a plane including a scan surface divides a work space range WS of the excavation attachment in a width direction. |
