PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lipid production method using acyl-ACP thioesterase derived from algae, and a transformant, protein, and gene for use in the method.SOLUTION: The invention relates to a lipid production method comprising the steps of introducing a gene encoding the following protein (A) or (B) into a host to obtain a transformant; and collecting lipid from the obtained transformant; as well as to a transformant, protein, and gene for use in the method: (A) a protein consisting of an amino acid sequence of a specific sequence; and (B) a protein consisting of an amino acid sequence having 80% or more identity to the amino acid sequence of the specific sequence, and having acyl-ACP thioesterase activity. The host is a microorganism, and microalgae or Escherichia coli belonging to Nannochloropsis genus or the like. |
