COLLISION SAFETY DEVICE FOR RAILWAY VEHICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a collision safety device for a rail way vehicle which can further improve safety without inhibiting the use of a connector at a front face of a leading vehicle.SOLUTION: A collision safety device 10 of a railway vehicle is a unit product in which an air bag 12 and an inflator 13 for supplying gas are stored in a case 11. When the air bag 12 inflates and expands, at least an area ranging from a top face of a rail 22 to a top end of a connector 21 at a front face of a leading vehicle 20 is covered with the air bag 12. The air bag 12 in this state has a concave shape in which the central part of the front face in a vehicle width direction is recessed to the vehicle rear side from the side part in a plan view, and has a tapered shape in which the front face is gradually inclined upward to the vehicle rear side in a side view. The collision safety device 10 is mounted detachably to the connector 21 of the leading vehicle 20 through a connection part 14. The air bag 12 inflates and expands by combustion gas generated by a gas generating agent in the inflator 13.
