PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an electrolyte-supporting structure which is easy to remove sludge produced at least on an electrode surface or in electrolytic solution in discharge and easy to repeatedly use an air battery by replacing an electrode, and by which the need for re-preparing an electrolytic solution in repeatedly using an air battery can be eliminated; and a large-capacity and long-life metal air battery having such an electrolyte-supporting structure.SOLUTION: In use, an electrolyte-supporting structure 10 is disposed in a space s for holding an electrolytic solution between a positive electrode layer 50 and a negative electrode layer 60 of a metal air battery 1. The electrolyte-supporting structure comprises: a supporting electrolyte 20; and a layered supporting member 30. The layered supporting member 30 supports the supporting electrolyte 20. The metal air battery 1 comprises: the positive electrode layer 50; the negative electrode layer 60; and the electrolyte-supporting structure 10 disposed in a space s for holding the electrolytic solution between the positive electrode layer 50 and the negative electrode layer 60. |
