The present invention relates to an electronic device implementing a user interface and a method thereof. The method includes the following steps: displaying at least one content; displaying at least one shortcut key for performing a function by using the content if proximity, wherein an input tool is positioned within a predetermined distance, is detected from a surface of a touch screen in a region where the content is displayed through the touch screen; and performing the function by using the content if the shortcut key is selected. According to the present invention, the function can be performed by a touch detected through the touch screen.
