摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain the titled formed article having flow shrinkage and high strength, by introducing a specific aqueous solution containing a water-soluble metallic compound into high-speed gas stream, depositing the resultant fibrous mixture of amorphous ceramic fibers and precursor fibers in the form of a blanket and needling the blanket. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous solution of a spinning dope of precursor fiber is introduced into a high-speed gas stream used in the production of amorphous ceramic fiber by blasting the stream against a thin stream of molten material composed mainly of alumina and silica. Amorphous ceramic fibers and precursor fibers are produced at the same time by this process. The aqueous solution of the spinning dope of precursor fiber is a viscous aqueous solution produced by dissolving a water-soluble metallic compound of aluminum, zirconium or magnesium and a water-soluble organic polymer in water or an aqueous solution produced by dissolving or dispersing a silicon compound in the above viscous solution. The layers in the blanket-like laminate of amorphous ceramic fibers and precursor fibers are needled to sporadically form fibrous loops and strengthen the entanglement between the layers.
