The invention proposes blocking the channel of theγ-secretase enzymatic complex attributed to the formation of theΑβ42 peptide located in the structure of presenilin, preferably using molecules exhibiting specificity in relation to peptide determinants bordering the entry region to the channel from the extracellular space. Thus, the invention relates to the use of the presenilin channelϒ42 as a pharmacological target for screening molecules that are suitable for improving cognitive performance and/or promoting cognitive development, preferably for the treatment and/or prevention of Alzheimer's disease.
