PURPOSE:To extract the flexion points, i.e., the features of the form of the spot train data on a 2-dimensional plane with high performance, by using a discontinuous point extracting part that extracts the segments of large gradient with priority as the discontinuous points out of a continuous broken line in case a broken line is approximated with another broken line including the discontinuous points. CONSTITUTION:Both the S direction displacement DELTASi and the theta direction displacement DELTAthetai are obtained to each segment Qi (points Pi-Pi+1) contained in a continuous broken line and the priority is set in the order of larger absolute value of the segment gradient ti(=DELTAthetai/DELTASi). The discontinuous points are extracted to the segments having DELTASi smaller than the threshold value in the order of priority. The positions of discontinuous points are set at the medium point of each segment like a case of a conventional device. However new discontinuous points are not extracted and integrated with those discontinuous points already extracted in case one of both segments connected to a noticed segment is already extracted as the discontinuous points. Then the noticed segment is not extracted as the discontinuous points in case both adjacent segments connected to the noticed segment are already extracted as the discontinuous points.
