Provided is an image display device in which power consumption can be reduced if, in suspension driving, a portion of a screen is rewritten. A liquid crystal display device (100) carries out a comparison on each line to determine if image data input from the outside has changed with respect to image data of one frame prior. As a result, if it was determined that the image data has changed, instead of rewriting the entire screen, image data from the top of the screen, which is a fixed location, to the last line at which image data has been modified is read from frame memory (10) and written to a pixel forming unit (61). Due to this configuration, of a one-frame-portion screen, updating of the screen is executed from the top of the screen to the last line at which a change in the image was detected, and for subsequent lines, one frame prior is maintained and displayed. |
