The invention relates to a housing (100) for a control unit of a motor vehicle, which housing comprises a housing element (105) and a further element (110) attached to the housing element (105) by means of joining technology without a joining layer or by means of a joining layer (130). The housing element (105) comprises a main body (107) composed of a light metal and a protective layer (135) applied to the main body (107). The protective layer (135) is arranged between the main body (107) and the attached further element (110). The invention further relates to a method for producing a housing (100) and to a control unit.
