PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic tape where linear running performance is improved while being fed by guide rollers having flange portions at high speed, and there is less flaking therefrom, when the magnetic tape having a thin non-magnetic support is recorded or reproduced by a linear serpentine type magnetic recording-reproducing system.SOLUTION: A magnetic tape is produced by cutting a magnetic sheet with a wide breadth into a tape having predetermined width by using a cutting device. In the magnetic sheet, a magnetic layer containing magnetic powder and a binder is formed on one surface of a non-magnetic support having thickness of 4 μm or less. A Young's modulus in a width direction of the non-magnetic support is 8 to 20 GPa, a Young's modulus in a lengthwise direction of the non-magnetic support is 9 to 22 GPa, and centerline average roughness (Ra) in a roughness curve of the cut surface of the magnetic tape is 0.08 to 0.25 μm. |
