PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to impose a use restriction (sheet width size restriction) against a fixing unit attached to an image forming apparatus through an operation unit.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a display unit 701 which performs display for allowing an operator to designate a print condition; an image forming unit which forms a toner image on a sheet in accordance with the print condition designated in the display unit; a fixing unit 100 which fixes the toner image formed on the sheet by the image forming unit using heat and pressure; a control unit 700 which controls the display of the display unit so that one of a plurality of sheet width sizes can be selected for imposing a restriction on use of the image forming apparatus; a storage unit 117 which is provided so as to be attached/detached to/from the image forming apparatus together with the fixing unit and stores information corresponding to the width size of the sheet selected in the display unit; a reading unit 700A which reads information stored in the storage unit; and a restriction unit 700 which imposes a restriction on the width size of the sheet that can be designated as a print condition on the basis of the information read by the reading unit. |
