PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for collecting a prescribed amount of saliva from a subject and preparing a saliva specimen having excellent preservation stability and handleability, and a method for detecting an organic acid from the saliva specimen obtained by the method.SOLUTION: The preparation method of a saliva specimen includes: an absorption step of absorbing saliva in a saliva absorption member; and a drying step of drying the saliva absorption member in which the saliva has been absorbed in the absorption step. A prescribed amount of saliva is absorbed in the saliva absorption member in the absorption step, or, after the drying step, an area to which a prescribed amount of saliva-derived solid content is adsorbed, is cut from the saliva absorption member and collected so as to prepare the saliva specimen in which the prescribed amount of saliva-derived solid content is retained in the saliva absorption member in a dry state. |
