Provided is a desalination system which has high energy efficiency. The desalination system (S) comprises: a first reverse osmosis treatment device (6); a high-pressure pump (5) which pumps water to be treated to the primary side of the first reverse osmosis treatment device (6); an intermediate pressurisation pump (7) which pressurises the water to be treated that flows out from the primary side of the first reverse osmosis treatment device (6); a second reverse osmosis treatment device (8) which performs membrane filtration on the water to be treated that flows from the intermediate pressurisation pump (7) into the primary side of the second reverse osmosis treatment device (8); a recovery turbine (11) which applies a motive force to the intermediate pressurisation pump (7) by using the residual pressure of the water to be treated which flows out from the primary side of the second reverse osmosis treatment device (8); a clutch (12) which connects/disconnects the intermediate pressurisation pump (7) and the recovery turbine (11); and a displacement-type motive force-recovering device (13) which, using the residual pressure of the water to be treated flowing out via the recovery turbine (11), pressurises the water to be treated that branches from further upstream than the high-pressure pump (5), and which pumps the water to be treated to the primary side of the first reverse osmosis treatment device (6). |
